Promoting Inclusivity

It’s that time of year when children are getting ready for their Christmas parties at school. I dread the message saying that if your child has allergies, they can bring in their own food. I feel so sad they are made to feel different. Slight alterations could be made so that all children are included in the festive activities and that it is completely safe. I absolutely love the book “I Can’t Have That I Have Allergies”. It really highlights what it is like living with anaphylaxis and the worries sufferers have. I love the ending when Deer organises a party so everything is safe for Hedgehog to eat at the party. With just a little bit of planning, allergy sufferers can be fully included in celebrations.
