Last week, we went to hospital for Georgia’s boiled egg challenge. I was worried in case she wouldn’t like the taste and at first did spit it out. Thank goodness for tomato ketchup and Haribo sweets!
Georgia did manage to eat the whole egg. However she then complained that her tongue was tingling and started with stomach pain. Unfortunately she was sick in the car on the way home from hospital.
I did feel deflated last week but a year ago she couldn’t eat pancakes and now absolutely loves them. Hopefully if we keep going with baked egg and the homemade pancakes, Georgia will be able to tolerate lightly cooked eggs soon.
Our tips for anyone doing a food challenge:
1. Bring food or sauces they like to help eat the food. Ketchup was definately the right choice for Georgia as she loves it.
2. Bring spare clothes in case they are sick.
3. Lots of activities to keep children entertained. We took Georgia’s tablet and downloaded lots of programmes in advance. She loves Spidey and His Amazing Friends at the moment and the episodes were a great distraction. We also took colouring books and some of her favourite toys.
4. Buy a special treat as a reward for completing the food challenge. Georgia couldn’t wait to get home to her new Ghost Spider teddy!
