Last Saturday I attended the Sadie Bristow Foundation Understanding Allergies Conference. What an amazing event, with inspirational speakers and bringing the allergy community together! I absolutely loved it!
What a treat it was listening to my allergy heroes deliver the following topics:
- Professor Helen Brough – Why are food allergies on the rise and what we can do about it?
- Dr Francesca Sawer – The emotional and psychological impact of allergies
- Natalie Hopkins of The Allergy Badge -Preparing for nursery and school with allergies
- Adam Orzel, GB Skier – Young perspectives and sports and allergies
- Dr Helen Evans-Howells – Navigating the Allergy Journey – Tips from an allergy doctor and parent
- Dr Leman Mutlu – Adult and teenage transition – guidance for parents and patient
- Professor Adam Fox – OIT for food allergy – where we are and where are we heading
- Panel discussion including Professor Bernhard Gibbs and Rosamund Kissi-Debrah
- Julianne Ponan MBE of Creative Nature – Food production in the UK
Thank you to all the speakers for giving up their time and sharing their knowledge. It was such a positive experience and now feel empowered and informed. Adam Orzel and Julianne definitely showed allergies don’t hold anyone back from living life to the fullest!
Being an allergy parent can be so lonely and it was so good to meet with others living with allergies. I did get excited when Julianne sat next to me and loved chatting to her along with the lovely Francesca.
Finally thank you to Clare and the Sadie Bristow Foundation team for such a fantastic event and all the work you do to raise awareness of allergies and inspire others.
