The Amazing Dr Helen Allergy Membership!

Back in December, we joined the Dr Helen Allergy Membership. It’s absolutely fantastic and just wish we had known about it sooner!

Back in January, we had our 15 minute virtual consultation with Dr Helen and she established a plan for both Jessica and Georgia. Both myself and my husband finally felt empowered rather than the usual deflated feeling after our previous hospital appointments.

Dr Helen gave us the confidence to go ahead with the malted milk challenge and thanks to Dr Helen, Jessica sucessfully completed the challenge in hospital and had 2 malted milk biscuits!

Our follow up appointment with the Consultant was two weeks later, so I wanted to ask Dr Helen for advice before then. It’s so good being able to ask Dr Helen for help and how to get the most out of your hospital appointments. Because I had spoken to her, I was able to push for Jessica to have 3 malted milk biscuits in one sitting, which she did at that appointment! We now go back for the muffin challenge in August!

Back in January, we established a plan for Georgia to carry on with the baked egg and she said we could carefully introduce peanut butter at home and also walnut/ pecan so that an allergy doesn’t form. Dr Helen also suggested the skin prick could be repeated in hospital with almond and hazelnut butters so I’ll make sure I take some to our next hospital appointment.

It’s so good being able to chat to others going through the same thing. I used to feel alone with the girls’ allergies but now feel supported.

Finally I love the monthly Q & A sessions with all the experts. Dr Francesca, a Clinical Psychologist gave us some fantastic advice for our baked milk challenge. Thank you Dr Helen and Dr Francesca for your help, as I still can’t believe Jessica can actually eat 3 malted milk biscuits!
